My name is Mary Teodosio and I'm a first-year at Ohlone College majoring in Pre-Nursing/Human Development Studies. I play for their women's water polo team and the SoAC (Southern Alameda County) 18u Club team. At James Logan High School, I started playing freshman year and started practicing with varsity my sophomore year. That year, I was also a starter and sprinter on the JV team while getting pulled up for unofficial and post-season games with varsity. I was a back-up starter my junior year where we came 2nd in D1 during the CIF North Coast Section tournament, a league record. My senior year, I was a starter, sprinter, co-captain, and earned a MVAL All-League Honorable Mention. Along with water polo, I started competitively swimming the summer before my freshman year, earned JV Girls Coach's Award sophomore year, and made varsity my junior year.
Only starting in high school to compete in both water polo and swim gave me a slight disadvantage, whereas most of my fellow teammates have been consistently training since they were in elementary school. Knowing that I was one of the weakest players on the team only made me more motivated to go 100% at practice and games so I could keep building my endurance and strength. I hope to strengthen my skills as an attacker and driver this up-coming season and hopefully become a more well-rounded athlete.
