Sydney deVroedt '21 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I'm Sydney.  When I was about 10 years old I picked up a waterpolo ball for the first time and have been in love with the sport ever since. I first started playing under the Hurricanes, from there went to South Florida Waterpolo club and played for Michael Goldenberg, and now I play for the the Riptides under Carroll Vaughan. I played in JO's in 2018 and 2019 and have been selected to participate in ODP for the past 4 years. I also have played on my varsity high school team since freshman year at South Broward and have won all-county first team awards every year. I was named freshman of the year in 2016-2017 and just last year received a USA Waterpolo Academic All American Award. Although waterpolo is a very important part of my life, so are my academics. for the last two years I have maintained straight A's with the exception of a few B's on finals.  The reason waterpolo has really stuck with me is because of the lasting relationships it has created for me between both teammates and coaches and the feeling of playing a really good game is a feeling that I can't get enough of. I really hope to carry my passion for waterpolo throughout my college career and the rest of my life, my goal in college is to learn as much as I can about the sport and be the best that I can be.
