My name is Anaa Azeem and I'm a junior in high school in Illinois. I'm a 2025 flat playing for Lyons Aquatics water polo and I want nothing more than to be a student-athlete in college. Over the last few years, I have learned that I thrive when faced with balancing multiple goals and I have a knack for prioritizing tasks. I do really well under pressure, in and out of the pool and understand the importance of taking breaks to recharge and center myself. Though I plan to study finance and pre-med in college, I want to play water polo throughout college to keep me grounded, active and make life-long friends and hope to continue to always play a part on a team, perhaps by mentoring other young water polo players. I love the relationships that I’ve built through playing water polo, building trust, reliance and lifelong relationships that not only span the width of the pool, but expand into my everyday life. Teammates know that they can count on me to always be available for support in the pool, to take the shot that may seem risky to others and to provide a listening ear when a friend needs advice or just to vent. Aside from water polo, I am passionate about volunteering to uplift citizens in my community and abroad, snowboarding and watching Bollywood movies with my mom and grandmother.
