I’ve always considered myself an athlete. Since the age of 4, sports have been a huge part of my life, and are now part of my personality as well. In my family everyone was a swimmer, so I began club swimming at a very young age, but I wasn't satisfied with just swimming. I then went on to play soccer, tennis, basketball, softball, and volleyball. I excelled in every sport I took part in, but something still felt like it was missing. My freshman year of high school, when I played water polo for the first time, I knew I’d found my passion. Thanks to past sports experiences, I picked it up very quickly, and earned a position on my high school’s water polo team. Sadly, Covid cut that season short, but I knew I wanted to play water polo. There weren’t very many options in my area for club water polo, so I ended up having to drive an hour to find a program where I could practice. After finding that program I was able to quickly progress, and this year took part in Olympic Development Program training camps. I was selected for the Southwest Zone Team. This was an amazing experience, getting to train and play with players from all over my zone.
With the increase in popularity of water polo in Texas, more opportunities are becoming available. I am excited to be part of the first year of Texas UIL Water Polo in the fall of 2022. Our small club team from Boerne has combined with Alamo Area Water Polo and we will compete this season in several tournaments, including JO’s. I know that I want to continue to grow as a player and my goal is to play at the college level.
