I started wrestling when I was twelve. I was slow about joining because I was convinced it was a boys sport. However, the coach assured me that it wasn't just for boys and convinced me to join. I joined because it looked fun, I soon learned it was a lot more than that. Yes, it is fun, but it takes hard work and determination as well. Wrestling has taught me that the best way to learn is to loose. I didn't win any matches my first year, that pushed me to work harder my second year, and so on for the past four years.
At the minimum I want to keep my GPA above a 3.7 in my high school career, I'm working towards a 4.1 in my senior year. Once I get into collage I want to maintain the same thing. I want to learn just as much as I want to grow in wrestling.
To get where I am now I had to learn to say no. I had to learn to make time. I didn't wrestle my freshman year because I was so busy. Wrestling my sophomore year after that break year was a big obstacle for me. However it really helped me hone down on how my season was going to go. I trained harder than I ever had and it payed off with my most successful season to date.
