Hi, I'm Liza Krueger, my wrestling career started at the age of four. I was pretty much born on the mat since my brother was a wrestler too. I was born shortly after the wrestling season started so the gym was my second home. My love for the sport came from watching and cheering on my brother, then I quickly realized that I wanted to be the one on the mat also. From that day forward I've never fallen out of love with the sport.
For most of my wrestling career, I've been wrestling boys, but that has changed in the past two years due to the increase of girl wrestlers. I think that having boy opponents as well as practice partners was very beneficial. I believe it helped give me more grit and determination and overall just made me a tougher person. I'm extremely excited to see the increase in the number of girl wrestlers in our state as well as more colleges getting girl wrestling programs.
I qualified for South Dakota High School state wrestling in my 7th and 8th years. As an upcoming freshman, my goals are to increase my strength, improve my moves, condition, and lift weights daily, and place at state high school. My summer is going to consist of a few intensive wrestling camps and some national duals and tournaments. Another one of my goals is to place and earn All-American at my upcoming national tournaments.
