My name is Tenley Swope and I go to Meridian High School in Bellingham, Washington. Going to a small school all my life it has shaped how I want to make a name for myself, always trying to push myself harder and work to the max. I became interested in wrestling freshman year and never looked back, what sparked my interest for this sport is it's uniqueness and the fact that not many girls wrestled and I wanted to try something new. Wrestling pushes you to new boundaries everyday and shapes personality. I’ve learned that believing and perseverance can win any match no matter the skills your opponent has. Academically in high school I continue to strive for all A’s to maintain a higher GPA, and same as college I want to receive high grades and obtain knowledge for the career I want to pursue. Ordinary obstacles that every athlete has to overcome is multiple practices, training, and matches and making enough time for school and sacrificing other things in your everyday life. Bigger obstacles I have had to face was sophomore year, I had a knee injury and having to recover from an intense surgery and months of physical therapy. Unique characteristics I possess would be leadership, determination, and love for the sport. Also I enjoy being social and outgoing, meeting new people, and learning new things.
