Ryan Rooney '22 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to be able to wrestle at the highest level that I can reach. I am a 3x Region Champion, 3x State Finalist, 1x State Champion, and a 2x Regional Outstanding Wrestler. My dad, Jeff Rooney,  is the head coach of our high school and grade school team, and he brought me into the wrestling room when I was 3 years old. I grew up with the passion for the sport. I have also competed in Western Regionals on the  Alaska Dual Team. In the individual tournaments, I placed 5th in Greco, and 6th in Freestyle. These placements were achieved with only a week of exposure to the two styles. My Freshman and Sophomore summers were spent on fishing boats, going mainly for crab, but sometimes during my sophomore summer I went gillnetting. I'm the Team Captain of our high school team and I am a very hard worker. I have a strong love for the sport and I hope to find a college that will allow me to reach my peak ability.
