Personal Statement

Hey there,

I'm strong-willed. Competitive by nature. Determined. Dominant. Willing to learn. I am, Sean Quaye. A young kid who was introduced to the sport of wrestling pretty late in the game, but has never let that stop him from being great and accomplishing so much. I'm someone who aspires to be even greater one day. I want to make a name for myself and my team to one day be recognized as revolutionary. I want to use my coachable characteristics and persistent fighting spirit to influence and better myself and all those around me. I have worked for everything I've ever received, despite being recognized as a raw talent by some. I want to take my talents and compete for a school at my highest level, yet contribute to the school itself through community service and the continuation of my academic career/research. I don't like to speak too highly of myself, but a great amount of individuals who have met and know me, would consider me a very well rounded and versatile student-athlete and son. All I can say to that is, I work my hardest to accomplish my own goals and the goals/challenges others have set for me to be the best student, athlete, and human I can possibly be... because tomorrow is never promised and neither is my next match. So I use this mentality to tackle every obstacle I ever encounter, to wrestle my match like its my last, and live my life as if it were the last day to live it. The obstacles I tackle everyday ranging from financial struggles to racial tension, or even proving I belong each and every day; all contribute to carving out my character and the greatest of my characteristics that I feel can be valuable to my school, team and coach at a collegiate level. This is Sean Quaye; this is who I am.

Are you in AP/IB classes?
Yes. AP English Language - The AP English Language and Composition course aligns to an introductory college-level rhetoric and writing curriculum, which requires students to develop evidence-based analytic and argumentative essays that proceed through several stages or drafts. Additionally, students read and analyze the rhetorical elements and their effects in non-fiction texts, including graphic images as forms of text, from many disciplines and historical periods. AP Physics 1 (Lab) - In this college level course, topics are covered in-depth and the material is cumulative.
