Sports have always played a big part of my life. Growing up I played football and baseball in addition to Wrestling. I am a gifted athlete in all of the sports I have played, but wrestling is my favorite.
There is something to be said controlling your own destiny on that wrestling mat. I can remember winning my first gold metal like it was yesterday, when in fact is was when I was in third grade. I can remember fighting my dad when he would take me to run, as I did not understand how running was going to help me wrestle. When I was standing on the top of the podium and they put the gold medal around my neck I turned to my dad and said, “I get it now; I understand winning takes hard work and training is the key.” I am always training now I enjoys running and lifting weights every chance I can get. I have a great work ethic and I am a very coachable athlete.
I have been very lucky to wrestle in the starting Varsity line up since I was in sixth grade. It was very exciting when I became the youngest in my school and county history to win the district championship to go on and be the youngest in my school to become a state qualifier in 7th grade. I have had some incredible wrestling experiences wrestling for dual teams all around the country. I really enjoy being part of a team and know the importance of being a true team player.
Being a third generation wrestler in my family is certainly big shoes to fill. I have always looked up to my dad and wanted to achieve the same goals he did in Freestyle and Greco. It was very exciting when I won the Florida Freestyle and Greco State tournament as well as the Southeast Regional Freestyle and Greco Tournament and Placed 5th in Nationals.
I hope to study medicine in college. As sports have played a big part of my life, I have seen quite a few sports injuries and I aspire to be an orthopedic surgeon, so I can treat other athletes like myself and give them the best care possible. I enjoy giving back to my community and volunteering to help those who are not as fortunate as me. I truly know the importance of have good character on and off the mat. I hope you will give me a chance to prove it.
