My dad always tells me that if you put in the hard work, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. And as of last season I got to prove that. My junior year of high school was the first time I ever stepped foot on a wrestling mat and it completely changed my life. Since that first day, wrestling has become my passion and something that I love and enjoy doing.
Having no experience in wrestling in high school was very difficult when I had opponents with years of experience, but I didn't let that stop me. I put in the hard work every day on and off the mat. That hard work payed off when my head coach began pulling me up for varsity matches during dual meets and tournaments and I even got to finish my first season in 1st for 132lbs at the Junior Varsity County Tournament. My coaches always told me that I was a natural and why I hadn't started wrestling earlier and I agree, wrestling has now become part of my everyday life.
My goal is to continue my wrestling career at the college level. Now that my passion has become wrestling, I won't stop putting in the work and effort everyday because I want to be a better wrestler and lead my team to great victories. But I believe education is always first which is why I have chosen to study business economics for my future career. But whether it's in the classroom or on the mat, the hard work never stops because in the end it always pays off.
"When you go the extra mile, it's never crowded."
