Personal Statement

I remember when I first started wrestling, I was in second grade and my grandparents have been asking me for  a couple of years. One day they asked me and I finally said that I would give wrestling a try. The first year goes by and I win one match, but I had so much fun so I decided to do it another year. The next year I got a few more wins, and after every year I got slightly better than the year before.

In freshman year I remember that I didn't get off to the best start in wrestling, starting off 0-5. My coach pulled me off to the side and kinda talked with me.  He got me out of my head, he told me that I know what I am doing and that I got to just do it. The rest of the season went through really good. I finished the season with a conference championship, and a 27-18 record. We get to districts and I am really motivated to keep wrestling, I wasn't ready to be finished. I ended up losing in blood round and I was really upset about it, and I really hated that feeling. My coach pulled me off to the side and told me how I good I did, he told me to look back at what I had done good and bad. I remember that feeling going home early and I vowed that I was going to make states next year.  I worked super hard in the off-season because I didn't want to get sent home early again.

Wrestling has taught me many things. One important thing that wrestling has taught is the importance of hard work. If you want something you have to be willing to work for it, and put in many hours to mastering your craft. Another thing that wrestling has taught me is the importance of staying calm, if you aren't calm you won't be able to perform on the biggest stage. Wrestling has taught me that you need to trust yourself, if you don't have confidence in yourself and what you are doing you aren't going to be successful. I never back down from anyone/ anything. I am the hardest working person you will meet.  I am extremely motivated in everything I do, and I shoot to be the best every time.

Some of my greatest achievements have come in my high school career.  My Freshman year record 27-18, with a Conference Title. My Sophomore year record was  43-9, in that year I earned another Conference Title and Qualified for State. My Junior year, I was team captain and had a record of 20-7, Qualified for State and placed 8th. I have achieved so much on the mat, that carries over to everything I do off the mat including my academics. I am ranked 31 in my class, have taken honors classes, and am carrying a 3.71 GPA. I just recently got my SAT score back and earned 1120. Academics definitely have also contributed to the person I am now.

I have already achieved many goals in my time and want to complete many more. The biggest goal that I have would be to continue my career at the collegiate level.
