I have a drive that brings me back to the mat day after day. I would describe that drive as a commitment to my team and a true love of the grind. I am disciplined and fully committed to practicing every day and doing whatever I can to sharpen my skills and the skills of my teammates. In a sport like wrestling, many people underestimate the power of the team. To me, it is my coaches and teammates that are my family and I learn from them every day. A win on the mat is great; but knowing that your team is going to be there for you no matter what is a better feeling than any victory.
I want to grind every day, meaning I want to be pushed in practice. I want to fail so that I can learn and get better. I have gained so much self confidence and grit from learning how to wrestle with the older guys and that has transferred to every aspect of my life. If I find myself on my back, I know I have the confidence and the ability to keep fighting.
I have had many opportunities to achieve athletic and academic success as a Camdenton Laker. My passion for wrestling has set up a foundation for my academic success and career interests. I thrive in the structured, disciplined environment that exists in the Law Enforcement and the JROTC (LET-III) Leadership Courses. I plan to pursue a career in law because my abilities on the wrestling mat are easily transferred to debate and litigation skills.
It is definitely one of my biggest goals to wrestle at the college level, but I don't plan to stop there. I hope to be able to dedicate my time to wrestling and to wrestlers as long as I am able.
