Hi, my name is Joseph Contrastano. I am entering my Junior year Sept. 2018. For me Wrestling is not just a sport but a way of life. My competitiveness, perseverance, and dedication is the same for all aspects of my life. I attribute that to being introduced to wrestling when I was 5 years old. Unfortunately my high school team is not very competitive so I try and get as much work as I can at my Club practice. I am thankful for this Club room as it has given me the opportunity to make amazing friendships across my area and to work with one of the best coaches you can ask for, Vougar Oroudjov ( 2 time World Champ and Olympic Bronze Medalist). Being part of a team that has the same dedication and drive as I do is what I strive for . You can count on me to work as diligently in my academics as well as on the mat. My GPA as of now is a 3.4 unweighted and 3.6 Weighted.
Theses are a few of my Wrestling accomplishments:
I Wrestled on the Varsity team as an 8th grader and finished the season with a 28-3 record making it to the County Finals . That same year I was a Middle School All-American finishing 5th at the NHSCA Nationals
In my Freshmen year I was the County Champ and placed 6th at the State Championships . My record was 40-8 that year. I lost in the blood round at NHSCA Nationals
In My Sophomore year i was the County Champ and the number 2 seed going into the State Championship. I had a hiccup my first match and "got caught" it was one of the toughest days i have ever endured in wrestling. I wound up not placing. After that day I made the decision to better mentally prepare myself for losses as well as wins. That being said at the Soph. NHSCA Nationals in March ( shortly after the States), I lost my first match 6-5 To the number 4 seed only to realize i had the number 3 seed next round. I didn't let that loss control me. I went on to win 7 in a row, and finish the tournament with an 8-2 record becoming a Sophomore All-American finishing 7th, My next big tournament was Pop and Flo National Duals where i went 5-0 beating Michigan State Champ 15-2.
I have big plans for my Junior year academically as well as athletically. Please contact me if you think I would be a good fit for your school.
Please view my highlight video and note that all of those full matches are available on Flowrestling.
Regards,
Joseph Contrastano
