I started wrestling in the third grade while my family was living in Germany because my father was in the military. My parents were looking for an activity to get us out of the house during the cold winter months. I remember traveling around to other military bases on the weekends for matches, but do not really remember much else about it.
Then we moved to Maryland and I was able to join a club team, FCMC (Frederick Co Mat Club). I was able to stay four seasons. It was there I learned my foundations, and really learned to love and respect wrestling.
Then I wrestled my 8th and 9th grade years in Alaska. Maryland did not have school wrestling until High School age so this was a new experience. I enjoyed Alaska, but I am glad we left there because we were isolated and had to travel 6-8 hours to get to the better camps and tournaments there.
I have now moved to North Carolina. My dad is retiring from the military and my parents moved us to a small town near where they grew up. I am getting ready to start my 10th grade season and am looking forward to seeing how that goes. I am glad to be getting settled and am wanting to try to find as many matches and tournaments as I can near me here to further prepare for college.
I do think that I am adaptable and that having so many different coaches and regions that I have been able to wrestle in makes me a better wrestler. Each coach has their own advice and tips they want to add and I have been able to be influenced by so many different people. I enjoy wrestling and learning more about it and look forward to advancing that to the next level.
