My name is Grayson Lee Keisler and I wrestle for Gilbert high school. I got into wrestling when I was about 5 or 6 then took a brake until I was about 14. My wrestling career started in 7th grade where i figured out i really wanted to wrestle even though i wasn't very successful. My 8th grade year I had a new coach that taught me the basics of wrestling. from there I used my skills I learned from my coach to have a very successful year, I was invited to the Carolina invitational which is an all region state tournament for middle schoolers and junior varsity wrestlers, I placed 4th in that tournament. The next year I was pulled up to varsity to wrestle 182 for my team that year I went 25-15 as a freshman wrestling most seniors in that weight class. As a sophomore (year of 2020) I improved greatly. I earned the title of region champion. Shortly after I earned the title of lower state champion and was the number one seed for the state tournament where i placed 5th in the 182 weight class as a sophomore. I will be an asset to a college team because I get the job done, I will wrestle any weight class needed to be filled, and in tough situations i stay calm and listen for my coaches. I am also very tough, for example as a freshman I sprang my ankle in the 2nd period of duels state tournament and finished the match and with a pin fall victory. My goals for my junior year (year of 2021) is to be a 2x region champion, 2x lower state champion, and South Carolina's state champion. My goals for my senior year (year of 2022) is to be a 3x time region champion, 3x lower state champion, and become a 2x South Carolina state champion, with an undefeated record. My academic goals are to be an A-B honor roll student and be the best possible student I can be. this year I finished 1st at the rumble on the river tournament, the region tournament, and the lower state tournament. I went undefeated (8-0) at a duels tournament held by white knoll. I finish 3rd at the demon classic at lugoff elgin. thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement
