My name is Shad Cano. I grew up in the gym grappling since a young age starting out with BJJ. At the age of twelve I joined wrestling and quickly fell in love and excelled with the sport, stopping BJJ to focus mainly on wrestling in order to become the best wrestler I can possibly be. To attain this goal I decided to obtain additional training and have now train at Fortis MMA under Sayif Saud, and personally train multiple times a week with UFC fighter and World class wrestler JP Buys along with many others.
I know that just as in life, wrestling gets hard and comes with bumps in the road, but I am one of the most hardworking, understanding, and persevering people you will meet. Covid-19 brought along many challenges this year, but I made a decision I was going to win state, continuously working hard and ultimately accomplished that goal. This being my senior season I aim to surpass my previous accomplishments and goals and I am committed to working stronger and harder, becoming 10x better, proving not only to myself but to coaches/colleges that I am that wrestler they want on their team. As I head into my senior year, academically and athletically I will finish strong.
