My name is Devon Hopkins and I am 17 years old ,when I was in middle school I set goals for myself that I wanted to letter in sports my freshmen year at high school .My father sat me down and talked to me about wrestling, I was uncertain but tried it anyway and fell in love with the sport. It helped me to grow and believe in myself to know that I can rise to any challenge if I set my mind to it, and put in the work. My freshman year I made it to regionals and also accomplished my goal of lettering in my freshman year. I felt the need to raise the bar so I set a new goal to reach states in wrestling for my sophomore year of which I accomplished by earning a spot as a state qualifier. I am know in my junior year and my goal is to place in states. I am also a football player and was brought up to Jv silver, one level below varsity my freshman year and was moved up to varsity my sophomore year. I am in varsity for discus and shotput in track n field in the offseason to help stay in shape. I plan to open my own restaurant some day and I think that being a part of these sports helpes me to learn leadership skills, and learning to be a great team player. I believe these skills will help me push through the hard times and struggles that sports and owning a restaurant have in common. My sporting experience has given me the confidence to get through any challenges that I may face in my future.
