My name is Chandler Cooley, and I am entering my senior year as a student, and varsity wrestler at The Colony High School, located in The Colony, TX. During my time as a high school student, I have maintained a GPA of 3.5, while participating in both football and wrestling. My core courses have consisted of both Pre-AP as well as AP courses, and I will continue to take more AP courses during my senior year.
During my time at The Colony High School, I have participated in both football and wrestling. My first 2 years of high school, I participated in both sports, but after my sophomore season, I decided to focus on wrestling. I started wrestling as a freshman which is late compared to many others that I compete against. However, I have made positive strides each year. From my freshman season through my junior year I went from winning only 6 matches to winning 33 as a junior, and placing 6th place in our district at the 182-pound weight class. I credit my success to hard work and focus, by training for wrestling in the off-season, learning more about nutrition, and getting stronger. I have also attended Missouri satellite wrestling camps, as well having attended wrestling camps at the University of Oklahoma.
As the upcoming school year and wrestling season approaches I have several goals that I would like to achieve. I want to improve my GPA, win the state in my weight class, and earn a college scholarship for wrestling.
When I enter college, I have plans on majoring in either engineering or business. Both of these degrees will only set me up for success when I become an adult. Learning from my failures, strong work ethics, listening to my parents, coaches and setting goals will actually make me a successful individual.
