I have been wrestling since I was in sixth grade and have been in love with it ever since. Where I grew up there was no wrestling in the high school so I didn't get to wrestle in high school my freshman year. My parents and I moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas my sophomore year so that I could continue wrestling. My sophomore year I ended the season with a 35-15 record and was an alternate at state. My junior year I was at 56 and 7 when I came down with the flu and Strep after District. I fought through being sick at Regionals to land a spot on the podium. I finished with a record of 59-10 and went on to win my first match at state but then lost the next two.
I truly believe that had I not gotten sick going into the state tournament I would have wound up on the podium. My first match as the 4 seed going up against a 1 seed and number 3 or 4 ranked wrestler in the state I felt really good and won. However, by the end of that match my endurance and strength was gone. I then got pinned in my next match and lost my 3rd match to the #1 ranked wrestler 5-2. I actually had a cradle set up on him but just did not have the strength to pull him over and was eliminated. In the end, I just wasn't good enough during that tournament, but I am determined to work even harder and continue improving at the next level. I am hungry and will give all I have to be a champion!!
I am also dedicated to doing well in school. Throughout high school I have held a position in the top ten percent of my class and I have a 3.86 GPA. I am planning on going into pre med when I go into college. Christianity also plays a huge role in my life. I am the leader of two bible studies and am very connected to my church. I am open to schools all over the country and would prefer a Division two college, however I am open to the possibility of going to smaller schools. I love to compete and wrestle and am super excited to start this next chapter of my life.
