Going from 15-6 my freshman year to 11-10 my sophomore year was a huge disappointment for our team as we expected to make a deep run into the North Coast Section Baseball Tournament, but lost in the first round at home. Throughout all of this, it would've been easy to give up on the year and look forward to next season, but I was able to use my resilience and courage to help us get back on track. Although baseball is a game of failure that can instill that resilience and courage, but I actually obtained these during my transition from middle to high school. I had to face lots of adversity as I became one of very few students of color in my high school as opposed to about 95% of my middle school being part of a minority. I struggled to get used to the new environment, but I managed to push myself out of my comfort zone in order to find my place in high school.
