Felix Ong '24 Recruiting Profile

I am a student-athlete, currently in my Junior year at Key West High School.  I am focused on my development as a RHP.  As a kid, I was never considered very good - I was never the first pick and never made All-Star teams.  I am grateful to my father who stepped up to Coach during my rec ball years and spent a lot of time helping to develop my skills.  I probably would have stopped playing if it were not for him.  He was willing to spend his time every day after work taking me to the field to practice.  Repetition and practice made a big difference.  Once I was old enough to go to the high school field, then I felt like the Coaches there actually gave me a look and some respect.  I still wasn't very good, but they were willing to develop me and give me a chance.  I made the Varsity team my Sophomore year and zoned in on pitching.  We had a great season, won our district, but unfortunately didn't win state.  I am excited for this upcoming season.  As far as college, I am academically driven and cannot imagine not playing baseball in college because it is such a huge part of my life.  I am hoping to find a college that will offer an exceptional education as well as baseball development.  Finding that balance is my goal.
