Dear Potential Coach,
I am currently a junior at ROWVA High School in Oneida, Illinois. During my high school career, I have been involved in Mid-County Cougars football where I played JV both my freshman and sophomore years, with some varsity game time as well. I have also been involved in ROWVA-Williamsfield Baseball. I started my freshman year playing at the varsity level, where I spent most of my time behind the plate, catching, but also spent some time on the mound pitching. As a pitcher, I came into games when things were tough, and was successful on the mound. Playing as a freshman with other players that were four years older helped make me a stronger player and person. I played summer baseball for the Junior Cougars and also played with the Legion Post 727 team as well. Unfortunately due to COVID, my sophomore baseball season and summer Legion seasons were canceled. I plan to continue to play varsity football this spring and will be a captain for our varsity baseball team this late spring/early summer season.
For as long as I can remember baseball has been my favorite sport. Since the age of 4, I have played baseball. I have the utmost respect for the game, my teammates and coaches that I have played with and learned from over the years. I had the opportunity to play travel baseball from age nine through age fourteen. I know that without my travel baseball experiences, great coaches, and teammates, I wouldn't be the player I am today. I know that there is much more to baseball that I want to learn and experience which is one of the reasons why I want to play at the collegiate level.
With my love of baseball comes a lot of time and energy that I put in off the field. Whether it is in school, at home, or in the weight room I am always working to improve my game. I work hard and try my best at everything I do, giving 100% all the time. I know that playing baseball in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will involve hard work on and off the field, and I am ready for that challenge. It would be an honor to continue to play baseball at the next level and to be a part of a successful baseball program.
