Hello! I am Dawson Mickley, I am in my Senior Year of High School at Emmanuel Christian School in Hagerstown, Maryland. I have played baseball since I was 9 and it is my dream to continue playing in college and hopefully the professional stage.
Baseball Career (2017-2024)
The first five (9-13) years of my baseball career were played in State Line Little League, then I played for two years at GABSA (Greencastle Area Baseball Softball Association) (2022-2023), my 2024 year for baseball was interrupted by a hairline fracture in my left arm (not my throwing arm), but I healed in a month and was able to play Men's Softball for my church to keep my ball-playing consistency going and I have not slowed down one bit. I plan on going back to baseball in 2025.
Why I am a Great Athlete for Your Team
I have been told throughout my life that I am a determined individual who does his best to keep his head up when things are rough, and that has translated over to baseball, instead of dwelling on my mistakes such as a strikeout or fielding error, I prefer to use those mistakes to help me do better and I choose not to get upset after those mistakes and instead ask what I did wrong and strive to correct it. I like to be a good teammate and try to help out others who are struggling to understand or do something. I have helped multiple teammates, who were my backup catchers, be able to become better catchers.
My Faith
I am happy to admit that I am a Christian and a firm believer in God, I like to use this to help me with my game, knowing that God's plan is the best and that whatever happens in my baseball career is what He wants. He allowed my broken arm to help me take time off from baseball and focus on softball, which ultimately has helped me become a better baseball player (it improved my hitting power, swing, and fielding immensely). I want to spread the Gospel to those at my college and those on my team.
My Strengths
Catching Ability: I believe that I am an excellent catcher and can perform at elite levels no matter what is thrown at me. I excel in throwing out runners and have given up 0 stolen bases in the past 4 years (unless the fielder drops the ball).
Speed: My speed is another aspect of my game that has been called impressive. I am always one of the fastest on my team and hope to become faster.
Strength: I like to let it be known that I am a strong individual, both mentally and physically. I may not be muscular by appearance, but I can stop runners at home, hit the ball far and hard, and throw the ball far and fast.
Fielding Ability: As listed, I am also a Center Fielder, which I also believe that I excel at, I can make impressive plays (diving and running), I can make throws from any part of the field, I excel in tracking down the ball and getting it into where it needs to go.
Hitting Ability: As mentioned earlier, my hitting power has greatly increased and I can hit home runs on 300-foot fields. My swing has improved and I now swing smoothly and without error. I sometimes struggle with contact but that is something I am working to improve.
