Personal Statement

My Goal has been to play ball at the college level for a long time. I have been determined to accomplish this goal. When I'm not playing, I am practicing or conditioning to gain strength. I have also been determined in the classroom and was able to stay on the honor roll last year. One goal I also had was to start on Varsity as a sophomore and was successful in accomplishing this goal.  I have always been a very athletic person since I was very young.  My parents gave me many opportunities to play different sports.  The sport that I have stuck with and have continued to play since t-ball has been baseball.  Playing baseball has been one of my greatest joys in life.  It has motivated me to do well in school and to be a team player.  I have played every position since I was little, however, the one position that I have been focusing on for the past 5 years has been as a catcher.  I have played on many teams throughout the years and have played for many coaches.  I recently had been playing for the Long Island Titans.  I have learned a great deal from all of these experiences.  I have also learned to be a good teammate and try to be a positive leader.  I have recently been working with college coaches and a Double A catcher as well.  Last summer and fall my travel team won the championship for our league.  This past summer my coach informed me of having one of the highest batting averages on the team which was .360.

When I'm not playing baseball, I am working hard in my classes, studying and trying to get good grades. Last year I did well and I made honor roll. When I am not playing baseball, I enjoy playing golf.  I started playing not too long ago and was able to make the varsity team at my school.  This year my coach was very pleased with my performance and I was chosen to play in all of this year's matches.

At this time, I am interested in becoming a physical education teacher.  For the past three summers, I have worked as a counselor in our local summer camp program.  I enjoy working with the kids and teaching them about different sports.  I also enjoy helping them to become good sports and team players.  For the past 2 spring seasons, I've worked as a junior baseball umpire and enjoyed the sport through a different perspective.

I will be continuing to work hard to accomplish all my goals.  One of my goals this year is to continue to build strength and speed.  This past winter I  attended a strengthening and conditioning class each week to prepare for the upcoming spring season.  In January, I started my winter workouts for my school team. My coach considers me a utility player because not only do I catch but I can play other positions as well.  My other goal is to keep my GPA up this year which I have been maintaining.  Lastly, my overall goal is to play baseball in college.  I hope you will consider me as a candidate for your team.  I'm a good listener and I learn things quickly.  I am also a team player and will work hard to keep improving.  I look forward to having an opportunity to hear from you and to perhaps one day play for your school.

Unfortunately, spring sports had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. I was able to play this past summer with my travel team. We did very well even after having to quarantine for so many months. We ended up winning the championship in the Boys of Summer league. Even if we didn't win I was just happy to play ball again. I am happy to announce that I have chosen to attend Nassau Community College and will be staying close to home. I have chosen to go into physical education and have been enjoying my classes and professors. Although the last 7 months have been difficult I am optimistic that we can get through this pandemic and resume our normal lives again.  I look forward to the possibility of perhaps playing for my new school.

Thank you,

Tyler

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
