I love baseball and would like to play for as long as I can starting with a college where I can further my education as I am a very good student.
I’m a good candidate because I am a team player and always put the team before myself. I’m always looking to move runners over and take pride in the fact that I can hit to all sides of the field in order to make that happen. I stand out because I am very smart, competitive and I play very aggressively.
I enjoy playing other sports as well, including basketball and golf, and have always competed with older kids in athletics due to my size and ability (currently, I’m a 6’-3”, 200 pound Junior). Although I had the opportunity to play Varsity Golf as a 7th and 8th grader, I chose to try out for baseball because it is the same season and my passion. I played JV Baseball as a middle schooler and finished the year on the varsity roster for playoffs. Seeing my teammates who were four or five years older than me handle situations and treat me with such respect makes me want to remember this in the future and pass on the same positive experiences if coach brings up a younger player when I am a senior. Playing third base and pitching on Varsity my Freshman year I feel would have prepared me for my upcoming Sophomore season. Unfortunately, the season was canceled but I was prepared to help contribute to the team
As the son of a mother who played Division I athletics (Manhattan College Softball & Swimming, Class of 1998), and coached (North Rockland, NY - Class AA), our upbringing has been to respect the game, work hard, take nothing for granted and be the best teammate possible. I am confident if you ask any of my current or former coaches and teammates, they would say the same. I feel my attitude, academic track record, athletic ability and tenacity make me a good candidate for the next level.
As I enter 11th grade, I’m very eager to see what the new school year will bring and I am focused on using the strong foundation my parents have instilled in me of leadership, team-first mentality, and hard work to balance academics and athletics and hope to someday be the player that will make an immediate impact on your program.
