Growing up as a military child has influenced who I am. I have the pleasure of getting to live in many different places and make new friends. This is both rewarding and challenging for example living in Korea and playing with the local baseball team has help shape appreciation for their culture and the way they play game. I’ve always been drawn to baseball since I was a young kid. I would just pick up a bat and swing. My father playing college baseball has also influenced me in playing baseball. It is something that is natural and I love doing and its the sport that I kept up with. Through playing baseball what I’ve learned about myself is that you have to be resilient to play this game, you tend have more failure than anything. Keeping a good positive mindset helps keep you level. The obstacle I have had to face to get where I am is living in Korea and as a military child. You go a lot of places that don’t necessarily have all the resources you have in the states, or you have the added challenge of a language barrier. It’s a great country but there isn’t as much access to coaches and tools I can access to improve my game. So I take upon myself to continue training with those who want to make me successful. The unique characteristics I possess are that I have a growth mindset, I can see everything I do wrong in games and can look at it as what I need to improve on without being angry or showing emotions when umpires make bad calls. I am very optimistic and love to make others happy because that makes me happy.
