My name is Jason Bruce, and I am starting grade 9 this fall (2016). I am fourteen years of age and here is a brief statement on how I would like to see things work out within the next four years. This summer I have been playing Bantam rep baseball for the Georgina Bulldogs. On this team, I am playing catcher as my primary position with outfielding and pitching when needed. In this league they do not keep stats but I have had a great season with my throws down to second and have learned a lot of tips on my pop time. Additionally, I have great speed, this spring I got second place in the 100m race at the York Regional District School Board Regional track and field meet with a finishing time of 12:04 secs. This is a great help to me, even if I don’t get the best of hits I can usually get to first base and I lead my team in stolen bases. I am currently taking private lessons for catching and hitting and will restart my development program throughout the winter time with the Toronto Mets. I plan to continue this program for the next four years. I will also be playing high school baseball for the next four years and plan to try out for the Ontario Blue Jays and Toronto Mets when I turn fifteen.
My future plans for education would be to study broad casting and journalism. I enjoy all aspects of sports and enjoy reading stats and compiling stats on different players and teams. In elementary school I always received good marks in language which included presenting book reports or articles and even verbal reports. With my other academic subjects, I plan to keep consistent with this field of study. For example, I will be taking as many English, creative writing, and media courses as possible.
I love playing baseball, but if I cannot play it I would love to report on it.
