Garrett Stratton,...Personal Statement
I am a pitcher from Houston, Texas. I attend Strake Jesuit College Preparatory as one of the class of 2022’s Ignatian Scholars. This academic scholarship is given to only 5 students in my class of over 300 students.
My current GPA (as of May 2020) is 4.57/4.0, while taking the most rigorous academic load. I also play basketball, where I served as last year’s JV Captain. In addition to being a leader academically and athletically, I have also been recognized by my school as one of the official tour guides for new students. On any given day, I might be bringing a prospective student ("shadow") to class with me. This year, I also completed an interview and formal application process to be chosen as a spiritual retreat leader for freshman students. I am viewed as a leader among my peers for my positive attitude and commitment to doing my best.
On the mound, I am focused, relentless and able to make adjustments. In the dug-out, I am fully engaged in the game and eager to see my teammates succeed. I am the kind of person coaches like having in their dug out. I care about people and love the game of baseball.
