My name is Easton Zempel. I am a 6’5”, 175 lb. Sophomore at Middleton High School. Although I am a three-sport athlete, I have always had a love for baseball. Having a mom who is an educator has taught me to put solid focus into my grades. Hard works pays both on and off the field. My academic goals are to finish high school on the honor roll and be a member of the Captains Table. In college I am interested in a field that includes math / statistics and coaching.
Over the years, I’ve learned many life lessons through sports. My family has moved a few times for my Dad’s job. Every new place found me working hard to prove myself and earn a position on the top team. This gave me the confidence and ability to be an adaptable player. I took away many strategies learned from a variety of different coaches. Coaches would describe me a “well rounded, coachable kid and a positive team player. Many events in my life have influenced me, but none more traumatic than breaking my femur in the 2nd to last game of my freshman year of football. Suffering this terrible injury taught me more life lessons in a few short months than most people learn in a lifetime. Through hard work and hours of physical therapy, only 8 weeks later I was back on the court playing in my first basketball game. Amazingly enough, 12 weeks later, I was playing in an all star baseball tournament down in Florida for GameDayUSA. After diving for a ball in foul territory during the Championship game and hearing the crowd yell their woos in amazement, I realized I was fully back and ready for more. I leaned heavily on my parents, coaches, and teammates to truly help me through the mental stamina needed to recover from a serious injury.
My own personal life experiences have taught me about resilience, the value of hard work, being adaptable, always put your best foot forward, what it means to truly be a team player, and how to earn respect. My hope is to find a college where I can continue to grow, prosper, get stronger and dedicate myself to be an integral part of their academic and baseball program.
