My name is Kacie and I am currently concluding my sophomore year of high school. I started dance and tumbling classes when I was just two years old. I instantly fell in love with tumbling and was in search of a sport. In second grade, I started cheering on my school team and this led to allstar. The ability to share my love of a sport with many friends led to me living to go to the gym. I have solid level 6 tumbling skills. My most recent accomplishments are making the varsity cheer team at Port Jervis Senior High School, getting my double full and standing one to full solid on the floor. I am working my standing full and two to whip double full. Also, I received an academic award for Excellence in Geometry Regents.
I attended Catholic school from pre-k through eighth grade. This instilled in me the love for my community and the respect for the unique differences we all bring. I enjoy volunteering to be involved in making change in my community and giving back. I have been able to volunteer my time for senior lunches, church bingo, Thanksgiving meal baskets, adopting Christmas angels, making raffle baskets to raise money for the soup kitchen, and a Disney princess party for local preschool students. At the highschooI, I am apart of Athlete-Helping-Athletes and Foreign Language Club. My goals for my last two years of highschool are to continue achieving academic excellence in school, giving back to the community that has had a hand in making me the person I am, and become a solid level 6 athlete.
In conclusion, a quote by Sharshi Prakash that I live by is that “Practice does not make perfect. Practice reduces the imperfection.” This quote inspires me to know that even though I may fall the first time I try something, the more I practice the more I will improve and there will always be something more that I can work to improve.
