Hello future coaches! My name is Maeve Alliger, I am currently a junior at Bel Air High School, in Bel Air Maryland. I am involved in a lot of activities and tough classes. Being a part of my schools Biomedical Program; a medical 4-year pathway that teaches students to engage in thinking medically and scientifically. As well as many clubs such as; PAWS (Peer Assistance and Wellness Support), NCSA Girl Up, Envirothon, and Fiber Arts (I am a co-founder of). I was enrolled in five honors classes freshman year, and four honors this year. This year I plan on furthering my academic career by taking AP classes my junior and senior year. i am currently enrolled in AP US History, AP Computer Science, AP Environmental Science, and AP English and Language. Being a student involved in high level classes, it requires me to focus my energy on both my sports, and academics. I use my ability to manage time wisely to better myself currently and for my future. I plan on majoring in Biology, Zoology, and/or Environmental Science. Though I am a sophomore I have already been a figure in various leadership positions. I was a counselor at an outdoor education program for 5th graders offered in my resident county. I stayed overnight for 54 hours, mentored and guided the students in learning about the outdoors and teamwork. I also have been of lifeguard at a pool over the summer for the past two years, as well as a swim lesson instructor, I plan on doing this every summer, possibly through college. At the same pool, I coached for the swim team. Whilst coaching, I taught those younger than me to swim with proper form, and how to keep themselves above water, as well as being encouraging and supporting as they learned to grow and become confident individuals.
As a student athlete whom has met a wide variety of people my sports career, I know what I value. I love playing on teams that have a sense of unity on and off the field. I want to play on a team with a sense of unity and togetherness. Having good relationships can positively effect the way a team functions. I have seen firsthand how a team dynamic can fluctuate, when there are rivalries. Having good bonds on the field can make for great memories, and a great team!!
