My name is Hunter Long and as a potential Junior College Transfer from Victor Valley College in Victorville, CA I respectfully submit this letter to you as a prospective student-athlete. I am currently 6 ft. 3 in. and weigh in at approximately 255 lbs. My 40 time currently clocks in at 4.7 seconds - with my shuttle run clocking in at 4.1 seconds. In the weight room, I am bench pressing a total of 445 lbs. and squatting 630 lbs. In the classroom, I maintained a 4.0 GPA (taking several honors and AP classes) and ranked 9th out of 332 students in my graduating class of 2011 as well as having a 3.9 GPA at my current college. I have earned numerous awards - both on and off of the football field. Academically, I have been on the Principal's Honor Roll, received an Academic Letter, Presidential Award(s), a National Honor Society Member and recently made the Dean's List for Victor Valley College. As a member and captain of the Douglas High School Bulldog Varsity Football Program, I received the team Defensive MVP Award in 2008 and 2009. In 2010 I was named the Team MVP and also received First Team All Conference and First All State Honors. I was also recognized as the Defensive MVP during the Offense-Defense (O-D) Football Camp held in Flagstaff, AZ in July of 2009. In 2010, I received the Linebacker MVP Award at the Schuman's National Underclassman Combine held in Phoenix, AZ then went on to be 4th ranked at the National Underclassman West Coast Ultimate 100 which allowed me to take part in the Top Prospect Camp held at the University of Oklahome in July of that year. I take great pride in excelling as a student-athlete and feel quite strongly about performing well in the classroom - as well as on the football field. Proximity to my home state of Arizona is not necessarily a determining factor for me as I consider colleges and universities. I am looking for a strong and conducive learning environment which I can call home for four years - as well as a place in which to pursue a football career at the next level. Whether a Division I/II/III, etc. - I am open to the best opportunity and offer. Coming from a single-parent household - after having lost my mother to Multiple Sclerosis - and financial constraints push me to work harder to accomplish my goals of furthering my education and playing college football. I currently apply for financial aid - as well as various scholarships. I have big dreams and as the first in my family to pursue a college degree - I feel this is only the first of many steps I must take to pave the way for my younger brother. I know I have what it takes to achieve a successful academic and athletic career at the collegiate level. I know I have the determination and the heart to be an impact player for whichever team it is I play for. I have strong leadership qualities I know will be of value to not only my coaches, but also my fellow teammates. Leadership is not only by direction, but also leading by example. I completely and fully understand positions on the field must be earned and I am prepared to begin earning that spot as soon as I set foot on campus. I have a strong and determined work ethic and will do whatever it takes to play my game at the next level. I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration - and hope you will afford me the opportunity to pursue my educational and athletic goals in your institution. Robert Hunter Long
