Personal Statement

My name is Madison Green and I am a Junior at Douglas High School.  I have been playing volleyball for three years, managing to make Varsity my sophomore year, and becoming the starting middle-blocker on my team. I joined volleyball because it's always been a passion for me to play such an amazing sport and the connection of being on a team. Since I am also a college freshman, my major is biology and I would like to pursue the career of being a successful doctor because I have the drive to help people in need. Not only do I give my all to athletics, but I apply myself to academics as well. I am an honor student who takes AP classes and maintains a 3.8 GPA. I integrate myself into many clubs such as Student Council and Class of 2020. In May, I completed my first college course of English 101, receiving a B plus. I have been recognized as a Diamond Scholar for the fifth year at my high school, and I have been accepted into National Honor Society.

I possess many skills in volleyball and I take my position very seriously. I've dedicated all of my free time to improve my athletic ability by joining a weight class in my high school, practicing out of the season every day, and taking up the role of assisting my coach in teaching middle school volleyball players. My town does not have the privilege of club volleyball, so I took the liberty to find a place that could offer me the benefits of playing year-round. I've traveled to Mexico to play in an All-Women's Volleyball League every Sunday for approximately 3 months. I constantly push myself to improve my volleyball skills, conditioning, and strength.

I have a drive that no one can alter and I will accomplish all of my goals. I'm always working to the best of my ability to improve in any aspect of volleyball or academics. I'm open to my coach's criticism in order to make myself a well-rounded team player. Without dedication and hard-work, I wouldn't be where I am today, nor would I have the motivational push to be the best person I can be.
