Strong academic results are my first priority. I am focused in the classroom to take care of my schoolwork first and I am a team oriented person who values the team goals most versus personal individual accolades in sports. I had the good fortune to be part of 5 championship football teams (and one second place team) in youth football starting in second grade. I have been tought how to prepare properly and what it takes to be successful both individually and as a team. Our teams went 66-2 in youth football and developed a culture of winning the right way. We talk with our pads and the scoreboard and keep our mouths shut otherwise and show respect to our opponents and the referees. Our high school team has gone 24-2 the past two seasons and played in back to back state championship games. We lost a tight championship game last year (28-22) and won a thriller against the defending state champions from Punahou 53-45 this year. As the starting quarterback both years in those championship games; I realized the fine line between becoming a champion and coming in 2nd place. You need to willing to do things other people are not willing to do to become a champion. I worked out with my personal quarterback coach every Sunday the past two years to become better in my accuracy, timing, arm strength, footwork, escapability, and decision making on my reads. My personal production in 2014 as a QB improved dramaticly versus 2013 due to the extra work that we put into the off season and on Sundays. I had the good fortune of getting several personal honors this past season such as Hawaii State Gatorade player of the year and the Hawaii USA Today offensive player of the year honors. However, none of those personal accolades are even close to our Mililani High School football team having its first undefeated season (13-0) and first Hawaii Division 1 state championship in school history. We ended up the #21 team in the country in USA Toady's final 2014 rankings which is the best that we have ever done as a school. I plan on being one of the key senior leaders next year for our team and lead our younger players by instilling the same work ethic, discipline, and values in them that led us to a state championship this past season.
