Personal Statement

Playing college athletics has always been a goal I've aspired to achieve. My passion and love for sports has been in my life since I've been able to walk. I'm convinced that my desire to perform at the top of my sport has also allowed me the same will to succeed in the classroom, making me well-rounded student/athlete.

My work ethic, ability to perform on demand, and natural skill to lead are all good talents that I've worked hard to improve on. I've been told that my poise and ability to improve under pressure are a couple of my top qualities. To be honest, i find it difficult to talk about myself and praise my athletic ability.  Although I do believe I can achieve at any level I set my sights on, I often choose to lead by example and earn the respect of my teammates through hard work and accountability.  I recognize that success comes through hard work, sacrifice, and determination.  I assure you that I'm committed to the process and will continue to make every effort in the classroom as well as on the field.

  • Bret Edwards is the type of athlete that strength and conditioning coaches, or any coach for that matter, love to work with. Bret seems to always be working towards bettering himself. I can recall one day this past summer when Bret was right in the middle of football camp, which consisted of 2 practices a day. On this particular day, after his first practice in the morning, he came down to our gym in between practices to work on speed and footwork. Most athletes his age would have taken that time to rest, but not Bret, he took this little break he had in the day to work on his already outstanding skills. As a coach, it is a pleasure to see someone with such natural ability match his talent with hard work, because as we all know, hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard. Fortunately for Bret and whatever coach he is playing for, he has the work ethic to match his immense talent. The sky is the limit for Bret, and I, along with everyone else at New England Strength and Performance, am very excited to see him reach his full potential.
