Football has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and my goal is to play on Division II college football team. I began playing flag football in 5th grade and quickly moved to tackle in sixth grade. That year was amazing. We went undefeated and unscored upon – and only let one touchdown through when we played an exhibition game against a local junior high school team after the season was over. I was hooked! Football plus the team experience was where I wanted to be. That feeling has only grown stronger over the years and has shaped my drive and determination to play college football. Since that sixth-grade year, I have focused on developing my football foundation – position skills, game plays, and an overall understanding of the game as well as team dynamics and resilience.
I was blessed at the beginning of my freshman year with a chance to prove myself both to my team and my coaching staff. I made the most of that opportunity and quickly became a solid part of the varsity offensive line. Shortly after my freshman season was over, I learned that football was a year-round sport at Lebanon High School (LHS). Pre-COVID, we would show up at the gym and weight train from 6-7am before classes three days a week in the offseason. Our goal - a state championship title. What we have gotten - a team bond between the players and coaches that has translated into amazing synergy when we play and lifelong friendships. What we have learned - football resilience. In the last two seasons we have been painfully close to that state championship title despite the challenges of moving to a tougher division and COVID. We played in the title game my sophomore year and lost to a team we had previously defeated, and this past year we were forced by the state to forfeit in the semi-finals due to a positive COVID exposure on our opponents team in the quarterfinals game. We had been undefeated and were devastated, but are now refocused and working even harder to make it back to the championship game this year. My love for the game and passion for playing has only increased throughout high school.
Academically my goal is to pursue a degree in athletic training so I can blend my love for sports with helping others. To that end, I work hard to achieve honor roll grades as well as be a solid and consistent student. Athletic Training has always been a passion of mine. I’ve always wanted to have the ability to help people, and stay in and around sports. My goal would to be an Athletic Trainer on a college football team.
Beyond football and academics, I also play varsity basketball, am involved with my church’s youth group and volunteer assisting the Christian education team with children’s church/nursery. I work year round as well and find that I excel when I am busy.
I am interested in attending a college or university that will challenge me both on the football field and in the classroom. The overall culture of the institution is also something that is important to me.
