Ever since elementary school I strived to play football at the collegiate and professional level. That goal is engraved in my mind and every day I work to reach that goal. I realize how tough it may be to reach this goal, but this is why I must work every day to reach it.
I have a lot of talent and athleticism as I am a three sport athlete. Juggling three sports along with my education can be tough but I find a way to get both done effectively, efficiently, and successfully. Along with sports and my school work, I also played cello in the school orchestra from third grade all the way through sophomore year in high school.
Among the many distractions, I take pride in keeping my GPA high and constantly being on the Principal's High Honor Roll. Working hard is a must when maintaining a high GPA and competing in multiple varsity sports. Being intelligent means I can easily adapt to different schemes and ways of play. This makes me a very coachable player.
As a sophomore, I was on two varsity sports teams (Football and Basketball) and played Junior Varsity Baseball before being pulled up to varsity near the end of the season. Also, as a sophomore, I was 5' 11", 165 pounds, and have a size 13 foot, so there is room to grow, improve, and get bigger, faster, and stronger.
During my junior year, I was a captain of the varsity football team as I am again a captain as a senior. I was captain of my Junior Varsity high school baseball team during my sophomore year and voted MVP of the team. Additionally, I have been captain of my summer baseball team fro multiple years. Therefore, I have experience as a leader and I am getting better every day at being one and leading my teammates and I to success.
Speaking of success, I am a Nassau County Champion in both baseball and football. As a junior, I received the "John Cody Award", given to the Most Outstanding Player of the Nassau County Class II Baseball Playoffs, as our team had won the County Championship this year (2015). I also led my football team to a Nassau County Championship win and the Long Island Championship Finals as a senior captain.
Football itself is more than just a sport. It teaches life lessons and has helped me mature as a person. I am in love with the game and hope to take it to the next level. I cannot even begin to perceive my life without football being a part of it. I plan to play for as long as I am physically able to as I will never lose my passion for the game. Yet with that being said, I will not allow myself to participate in anything other than school if I cannot keep my grades up. School comes first and football second, but that is why I take pride in maintaining a high GPA, to allow myself to participate in activities and sports without worrying about failing.
Football is a sport where you cannot succeed by yourself. There are 10 more players working along with you to reach the same goals. This is why I truly love the sport, because if you make a mistake your teammates can pick you up and you learn to move on.
Football is a major part of my life and I would like it to continue to be as I take a major step in life by attending college.
