Spencer Root '24 Recruiting Profile

      My name is Spencer Root I am a 17-year-old place kicker for Norwich Central School in upstate New York.  Being only 17, I understand that I have my best years ahead of me and look forward to learning, growing and getting even stronger as a kicker.  I am placing my touchbacks deep in the endzone and my reliability is one of the things my coach appreciates about me.  The 2023 season has been a proving ground for my ability, with 20 of 24 touchbacks.  I am known by my teammates and the local fans as "Root the Boot" because of my field goal accuracy and distance.  However, the 2023 season, as of now, has only offered me two field goal opportunities, of which I made both.  I am excited for the future and hope to find a school that can use my kicking ability to help the team.  I look forward to learning and getting stronger as a kicker and making a difference on the field.  I enjoy talking about football and kicking in particular.  I have had some coaching, but I know that there is much more to learn.  

     When not playing football, I am a sprinter on the track team with 100-meter dash times in the low 11 second range my junior season.  I study hard, have good grades and work 4 days a week at my local Pizza Hut.  I am not afraid of hard work and have proven that both on and off the field.  Please enjoy my videos and I look forward to speaking with you and your team.  Thank you for your consideration, and good luck on the rest of your season.
