My name is Zachary McGee and I am a Senior at Red Hook High School in New York. I transferred here in 2018 and have played varsity football since arriving as a freshman. I was only one of two players that made varsity in ninth grade and will letter all four years. I have also started at linebacker each year and have led our team in tackles the past two seasons. I am currently the top player on the weight room leaderboard. I have also lettered in wrestling and have played Rugby for the Colorado Springs Falcons, CO and Aspentuck Valley Rugby Club, CT.
I am an excellent tackler with a nose for making good, quick reads and finding the ball. I am strong physically and have worked a lot on my shedding and bull-rushing moves. Furthermore, I constantly work hard to continue to track the ball to the whistle, even if the play is away from my side. Coaches and opposing players have called me disruptive at the line, and that I often force teams to either play away from my side or they choose to double-team me. I am looking forward to another great year and I am currently working hard to get stronger in the weight room, to improve my footwork and study the game further. I have attended several camps which have developed me and have given me added football IQ. The bottom line is that I absolutely love the game of football and especially playing linebacker. Furthermore, I truly pride myself in supporting my teammates and leading by example. I am loyal, but I won’t sacrifice my values.
As a military kid, (1 of 4 children), I believe I have the maturity to adapt and deal with changes in order to accomplish a mission. My family knows sacrifice and we remain centered with our faith in our God and one another. My parents have always modeled discipline and resolve, while also teaching us to respect and support others through our everyday behaviors and service.
I have dyslexia. It is an indelible part of who I am but it doesn't define me. If anything I view it as a blessing as it has taught me resolve to work hard through struggle to achieve success. No-one will outwork me! Since kindergarten, my family and I have moved five times which has made it challenging to find the resources and to build strategies that would promote success. With my parent’s undying support and many outstanding teachers along the way, I believe I have overcome great odds to succeed up to this point in school. In the spirit of giving back, it is my mission to be a role model for other kids or individuals with learning disabilities, and I refuse to fail in this goal. In that regard, I desire a football program that will also support my success in the classroom. I believe this all begins with the foundation of a healthy and supportive culture. Again, through our moves, I have had the privilege of experiencing all ends of the spectrum when it comes to organizational ethos. I want to play for a team with a warrior ethos and supportive fraternal brotherhood.,
I also play percussion in band. In addition, I have been involved in several youth group mission projects and I have worked for over a year at Tops, our local grocery store. This past month, I completed my Eagle Scout project and will be sitting for my Eagle rank board of review in August. .
My football films are grouped by game online and are available in Hudl under Zachary McGee. I wore number 58 the past two seasons and I wore 81 during my freshman season. My head coach is Scott Ricketson and his email is [email protected] . His phone number is 845-901-4309. My cell number is 719-216-7999 and my email is [email protected] . Lastly, my parents are John and Traci McGee and they can be reached at 210-867-1018. I will also attach a copy of my most recent report card. Thank you for taking your valuable time to read my profile and review my films. I hope you like what you see and I would appreciate any guidance you could give me to improve and allow myself to keep playing beyond high school.
Sincerely,
Zac McGee “#58”
