Hello,
My name is Evan Jensen from Red Hook N.Y. I'm a junior from Red Hook High School, a three season athlete, and an Eagle Scout.
Going into high school I wanted to be a three season athlete and maintain my GPA to get me onto the honor role. All three years of high school, I've been on the honor role each quarter. I have also been a three season athlete all of my three years. I played soccer and basketball freshman through junior year. Freshman year I wanted to try baseball and I made the J.V. team, but did not really enjoy playing it. My friends talked me into running track sophomore year and I fell in love with the sport! I plan on running track for my junior and senior year, and I would love to run track in college.
I have done scouting my whole life and really enjoyed it. During my sophomore year I decided to go for the Eagle Scout rank. This is the highest rank in Boy Scouts and it has been a dream of mine to get Eagle. For my Eagle project, I fund raised, coordinated with officials from both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and bought the Girl Scouts of Dutchess County a shed which we placed at their meeting spot in Red Hook. They can now store all their supplies and items they have in one central location in our town. Scouting has taught me many things in life that will help me long term. One of those is being a leader. Scouting has showed me how to be a good leader and what steps to take when leading people. Scouting has also taught me how to set attainable goals and accomplish them.
My career choice is to be a physical education teacher. I always found gym teaching to be a very interesting and fun job. Both my mom and dad are teachers and they both like teaching and helping kids. I want to be a gym teacher because all my life I've had fun playing sports and being active, and I feel like that is disappearing in the world. I want to help kids get back into being more active and playing sports. I would also love to be a coach at the school I work at.
Thank you for your consideration,
Evan Jensen
