Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Joshua Reid. I am a Defensive and Offensive Tackle. I am the fourth of five children, the third of four sons, all of whom are linemen. My dad has  been a football coach for over 30 years, including D coordinator and defensive lineman coach among others, and both of my parents are teachers.  We understand the meaning of team and family and we understand that nothing worth having comes without hard work.  What I really need you to know about me is that football has never been just a sport for me. It's never been just a game. In a way, I was born for football. I have been on the field with my dad, who has coached for over 30 years, since before I could walk.  He made sure that the game was more than just the Xs and Os on the field, but that my understanding of the game was deep and academic.  Since I was young, I have always had a desire to push myself to my limits, and then further for this game.  Football for me has not only been a great learning device, but it is my passion, it is life. Without football I don't know where I would be today.  It keeps me focused on the things that matter and helps me to avoid the vices that sometimes bring athletes down. As a student athlete, I dedicate myself in the classroom, as academics are a clear priority for me, and not just because of football.  I have goals that I want to accomplish in college and beyond. I intend to graduate with a Homeland Security, Protective (Fire) Services and EMT, or Criminology degree because I plan to become a Firefighter of First Responder. I undoubtedly want to compete on the next level of football in college and will scratch and claw to achieve that. I can assure you that if you have an interest in me and decide to have me on your squad that you will get 110% from every time and nothing less.  You will always know what you're going to get from me when you put me on the field because I am coachable and I listen.  I have been lucky enough to have great parents and a supportive family that raised me and instilled in me a "No Quit" attitude and the belief that team is family.  I feel that these are great qualities to have on a football team.  I know that I will make a strong impact and be a valuable asset in your football program.

Thank You!

                Joshua Reid

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
