My name is Marley Kness and I am from the small coastal town of Klawock Alaska. That being said, Klawock is rich in many ways but unfortunately lacks some typical high school opportunities due to being slightly removed from the big city, mainland. The lack of these opportunities has not kept me from making basketball my priority. On or off season, I continue improving my game to return to basketball season with a new arsenal of improved skills year after year, as this aligns with my personal athletic goals.
I am optimistic that basketball could aide me in receiving a college education. I’ve always enjoyed being a good student. I am currently on track to graduate high school with 21 college credits through dual enrollment courses while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.97. I am eager to play basketball at a collegiate level to achieve my goals of possessing my degree.
Presently I am 6’1 and 165 pounds. I am dedicated to the weight room to add strength and mass to my body frame while also improving my explosiveness. Due to my dedication to the weight room, I am currently tracking weekly progress. I can compete on defense with my quick hands and effort, while I can compete on offense with much larger defenders through patient and artful moves. I feel one of my largest strengths is being quick and patient when finishing around the rim. Shooting, three-point or mid-range, especially off the catch, and the ability to make plays with the ball in my hands is not only a personal strength but also a passion of mine. My ability to facilitate has not always been on full display throughout my time in high school with KCSD but I feel I am capable and have proven in many different games that I am able to distribute the ball very well. These strengths have led me to accomplishments such as: 2x 1A Boys Region V All-Conference, 2x 1A Boys Alaska All-State Second Team, 2x 1A Boys Team Region V Runner-up, Klawock Invitational All-Tournament Team, 1A Boys Team Region V Champions, Ninilchik Invitation All-Tournament Team, and 2x Region V 3pt Champion.
I am optimistic and eager to play collegiate basketball against other skilled players while obtaining a higher education. If you have any questions please contact me, my coach, or my parents with the contact information listed on my profile. Thank you for your consideration.
