Hello! My name is McKinley Holien and I am a graduating student of 2024. My dream is to play volleyball at a collegiate level, as well as pursue a great education and become a physical therapist.
What makes me unique is my environment. I live in southeast Alaska on a beautiful island called Prince of Wales. I attend Klawock City School, where there are 130 students in total K-12! My 2024 class only has nine students! With there being so few people in my highschool, our high school volleyball team has always been small, the biggest team I’ve played with is 10!
Because of our small team, I am a very versatile player. I’ve played every position in my high school career, my main and strongest positions being an outside hitter and setter. My dedication and passion for volleyball makes it easy to adapt to any position my coach needs me to play.
Because I live on an island, the only way to travel is by ferry or small airplane. We have to miss a lot of school due to traveling, the longest sports trip I’ve ever been on was two weeks! Along with travel and practice, I successfully balance my school work as well, maintaining a 3.8 GPA.
I am very coachable, open minded, and hard working. I’m always looking to improve and perform to the best of my ability!
