For me, basketball is more than just a game and certainly more than just a sport. Playing since I was 8 years old, basketball has given me the opportunity to strengthen my leadership skills on and off the court, the chance to motivate my teammates and keep their heads up, and to really develop a passion for the game. Basketball has taught me over the years to win with passion, but to lose with dignity, to always show respect and sportsmanship no matter the circumstances, and most importantly to never give up. Over the years I've learned that there will always be someone bigger, faster, and stronger than you on the court at some point and that's what truly motivates me to become the best player I can be. This motivates me to practice day and night, come before and after school to dribble, and to run around the track. I'm also motivated by the pure thought of knowing there are hundreds of thousands of boys that want to play at the next level just as I do, and in order to set myself apart from others and succeed, I have to put in the extra work and time. With my motivation and strong work ethic, I not only can lead a team to great success, but also get my surrounding teammates better in the process.
In my remaining high school career I want to lead my team to a MIAA championship and at the same time average a 4.0 or higher gpa for the year, as well as continue to take challenging AP and Honors classes. For college, I am looking for a program that not only offers a challenging academic program and offers my major, but also has a strong bonded team that I can become apart of and bring a positive impact to. I believe it's the little things that don't show up on the stats that are the most important. Details such as charges, deflections, diving on loose balls, calling out who you are guarding on defense, and your overall energy and hustle are just as important as points scored or rebounds collected. I believe that combination of the my leadership and work ethic, as well as my continuous practice of improving my game will bring to reality my dream of playing at the next level.
