I love sports! Since the age of 4, I have played on a variety of sports teams and have had many great experiences. Although I started with baseball and soccer, basketball is what I really love to play. I have been playing basketball since 5th grade and my goal in life is to play for a college basketball team. Through the years, I have worked to improve not only my skills, but my confidence and knowledge of the game. I have trained with local college coaches and have participated in many basketball camps and clinics, such as the University of Rochester summer basketball camp and the Isiah Thomas Basketball Clinic in Rochester, NY. My coaches, trainers, and even Isiah Thomas have taught me the value of not only being a coachable team player, but also a good citizen, and a hard worker - both on the court and in the classroom.
As a student, I have faced many challenges but have learned never to give up. My work ethic and perseverance have paid off. I maintain a high GPA and am involved in a variety of extracurricular groups and activities. As a basketball player that is not the "tallest" player on the team, I have learned how to overcome obstacles by working even harder than others might and to listen and learn from the talented coaches I have played for. My years of training have made me a strong, fast defensive player, a strong shooter, with good ball handling and agility skills. My basketball IQ and quick decision making skills have resulted in many assists and wins.
After graduating high school, I would like to play for a college where I can use my talents and skills, both in my field of study (Physical Education and teaching education in history) as well as on the court. I look forward to new experiences and the opportunity to learn and develop new skills. In the future, I also see myself coaching young athletes to encourage them to strive for greatness and to become strong, dedicated individuals.
