Connor van der Sommen '25 Recruiting Profile

Basketball is my life and I have been working hard every year to improve and get to the next level. I train every day and have been working with a professional skills trainer all summer. I reached my 1,000 point mark this year as a senior and am doing my best to lead my team to win a title. I started on varsity as a Junior in the 2023-24 season and was the leading scorer and assist leader on the team. I earned New York State All-State Class B Honorable Mention, MAC All Star First Team, All-Star Tournament Team in the Greene Holiday Tournament, Player of the Week, and Scholar Athlete. I played travel basketball this spring/summer with Empire Elite where I had a some great performances against some of the top ranked kids of my class. In addition, I played in Paris, France in the 2024 Paris World Games with a PHD Hoops U20 team coached by Southwestern coach Matt O'Brien.  I do have a good amount of looks, no official commitments yet! Class of 25'

- Willing to do whatever it takes to win

- Love to play defense, especially traps, presses, or any pressure defense

- Very fast with the ball, love to push in transition with great vision

- Consistent jump shot and very good at creating space

-  Fearless when attacking the rim and finishing through contact
