Having gone to schools on both ends of a high school rivalry, I have received many benefits as a player under both basketball programs. I have no trouble in a classroom setting, but switching schools meant I had to earn the trust from a player to a coach all over again. Through this experience, my focus, listening, and athletic skill greatly improved as I took my coaching from my previous school and added on my current coaching. School can teach a person many things, but I also believe that playing a competitive team sport such as basketball helps a person in a way a classroom cannot. Playing basketball on the college level would be not only a dream but an honor, one that I would carry with me throughout my life and into my career.
