I was an incredibly active little boy. The world was my playground. I was constantly seeing how high I could climb or how far I could jump or how fast I could run. Because of my "adventures" I was always bruised. My mom still tells stories of how she was afraid that people would think I was abused because of the bruises. When I was 6 years, trying to find an outlet to burn off some of my energy, she signed me up to play Upward Basketball at the local Baptist Center. My world was forever changed!
Since the first time I held a ball in that little gym, basketball has become my passion. I love the game, but I also love the joy of seeing dedication and hard work pay off. I love setting goals, working toward those goals, and achieving them. I love getting better. My dream is to play college basketball. However, I believe that the true joy of dreaming is in the journey and not only in the destination.
My ultimate goal after college is to help others find the gift of sport just as I have. Basketball has taught me life skills that will last far beyond my playing days. Basketball has taught me to win, to lose, how to work, how to chase your dreams, how to be a great teammate and even how to be a great opponent. I believe that coaches and athletic trainers are uniquely positioned to impact the future of our communities through the gift of athletics. This is something that I want to be a part of. I want to take all the things that I have learned from playing basketball and give them back to the community that I live in.
I would like to pursue a Sports Management degree in college. My desire is to use my college experience of playing basketball and college education to impact others through the gift of sport and just caring for your body through physical exercise to increase one's mindset. Athletics has pushed me to be all that I can be. I want to use my education to help others be the best that they can be.
