I started playing recreational league basketball when I was five years old and basketball quickly became my favorite sport. After a couple of years of recreational basketball, I started playing travel basketball, then school basketball. My dedication to the sport led me to be invited to play with the high school varsity the summer prior to my freshman year. I was always shorter than many of my peers, but I worked very hard to take my game to the next level. I have learned that I can push myself to levels that I didn’t think were possible. My love of competition, along with my basketball IQ, floor vision, and on and off the ball defense has helped me make up the height difference.
I was the starting point guard and one of the Captains on my high school team during my senior season. I averaged 9.2 points for the season; however, I averaged 22 points in the playoffs. I finished first in the conference in assists at 6.6 per game and first in the conference in steals at 4.8 per game. I also averaged 3.9 rebounds per game. I was named to the All-Conference Team.
I finished my high school career as the all-time leader in assists and steals at Pine Lake Prep.
I am very good in the classroom, my current weighted GPA is 4.46. I want to continue to take honors and AP classes and I want to graduate in the top 5% of my class. Then, I want to go to college, play basketball, get my degree, and go to Law School. I believe that I not only have the talent to play for a college team, but I also possess the leadership skills to be a team leader on and off the court. Basketball has taught me that with hard work, I can do anything that I set out to do.
